Senior BJP leader and chief whip Lok Sabha Anurag Thakur today said that the AAP led Punjab government has miserably failed in safeguarding interests of the farmers in state.
Addressing media persons today along with BJP candidate from Barnala Kewal Singh Dhillon, leaders Manoranjan Kalia, District president Yadwinder Singh and others, Thakur raised concerns over condition of state under AAP.
Situation has deteriorated to such an extent that farmer Jaswinder Singh from village Nadampur of Bhawanigarh in Sangrur, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan’s own constituency, committed suicide. The poor farmer was not able to sell his paddy on MSP and hence ended up taking his own precious life, said Thakur.
He added that delay in issuing notification for procurement and not addressing issues of the rice millers at right time has left entire paddy procurement in doldrums. Already the center government had timely issues Rs 44000 cr to ensure smooth paddy procurement in state, but Punjab govenrment failed to implement proper plan for the same.
He said that while center govenrment free anaj (free grains for poor) and ilaj (free treatment through Ayushman Bharat scheme), the AAP led Punjab govenrment was hell bent on snatching the same from its people. While the free ration scheme has been discontinued in Punjab, the state has refused to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme that could give relief to people, he said.
He said that while CM Punjab himself for treatment from private hospitals, he did not cared for its own people and denied benefits of Ayushman Bharat scheme to Punjabis.
Thakur reiterating the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development said that when elected to power, BJP will ensure that multi speciality hospital is constructed in Barnala so that people do not have travel car away to get good treatments.
He added that it was due to efforts of Kewal Singh that barnala receives special train rake to ease out procurement pangs.
